Join us in urging Governor Hochul to support the Securing Access to Fair & Equal (SAFE) Shelter Act to help thousands of survivors access safe domestic violence shelter.

New York’s current domestic violence shelter system makes it incredibly difficult for single adult survivors of domestic and gender-based violence to access life-saving shelter. Without this critical resource, survivors fleeing violence and abuse are left with few, if any, options to find safety and healing. This disproportionately hurts LGBTQ+ survivors, trafficking survivors, and older adults—survivors more likely to seek shelter without children.

Right now, Governor Hochul is preparing her budget and policy priorities for next year. We want her to hear from you that the SAFE Shelter Act should be a top priority.
